With deep sorrow we were informed today the death of Katy Romanou (1939-2020), after a short illness. The deceased was a founding member of the Hellenic Musicological Society and remained active until now in its Board. She left behind a rich research work, mainly in the field of Greek music history, in combination with her tireless teaching activity for many years at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Athens, the Hellenic Open University, the European University of Cyprus and many conservatories in Greece. She was also a member of the editorial and scientific boards of the historical journal Musicologia, music critic in the daily press, scientific director of the Greek section of the RIPM (Répertoire International de la Presse Musicale) program, and coordinator or member of international research groups for music in the Balkans, in Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean.
